Human Longevity Inc. (HLI) is the genomics-based, technology-driven company creating the most comprehensive database of whole genome, phenotype and clinical data. HLI is developing and applying large scale computing and machine learning to make novel discoveries to revolutionize the practice of medicine. Job Description
HLI’s machine learning/big data team will design and engineer advanced programs performing mining, analysis and assessment of the most comprehensive human genome, microbiome, metabolone, proteome and phenotype data available. This will be achieved by leveraging and assessing the most advanced bioinformatics data gathered for the purpose of healthier aging and overall human wellness study. This is an exceptional opportunity for the Research Scientist who wants to learn and explore the new dimension of Big Data meets Genomic Science.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Use existing and develop new machine learning algorithms to solve a broad set of prediction and data analysis problems
Use existing and develop new data-mining, machine learning and/or graph analysis techniques
Code using primarily C++, C, Python, Java, Scala in a Unix/Linux environment
Conduct design and code reviews
Interface with Bioinformatics Scientists and Software Engineers
Work with large unstructured and structured data sets
Prototype, develop and test new algorithms
Design, execute and analyze empirical performance assessment and validation studies
Improve the computational efficiency and scalability of various statistical models
Minimum Qualifications (Must have)
PhD in Computer Science, preferably with a focus on Statistical Learning, Applied Statistics, Artificial Intelligence.
Strong machine learning expertise, both theory and practice
Background in one or more of the following: BIG DATA, distributive computing, heuristics, information retrieval, recommendation systems, social network analysis
Software coding experience with C++ and C languages, Python, in a Linux environment
Strong system building, problem solving and data structures experience
Strong publication record in the area of machine learning, artificial intelligence or statistics
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates would ideally have experience with large scale systems and server-side technologies
Experience in a start-up environment
Global experience
Working Conditions
Open office environment
Global environment with multiple sites, which may require work beyond standard business hours
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending and kneeling
Occasional travel may be required
