Job Description:
Job Responsibilities: The Bioinformatics Analyst (BA) position will involve four related activities Bioinformatics data processing and analytics - The BA will be responsible for processing and analyzing flow/mass cytometry and RNA-seq data from multiple collaborative projects using state-of-the-art computational and statistical approaches. Biomedical data and knowledge management - The BA will participate in the implementation of cutting-edge data management solutions for multiple collaborative projects for effective and efficient data integration, retrieval, and visualization, utilizing and implementing the use of ontologies, information standards, data models, and standardized data exchange formats. Bioinformatics cyberinfrastructure development - The BA will participate in and support the ongoing project activities on the development and implementation of a suite of computational pipelines on workflow engines, and support the customization of the user interfaces for accessing these pipelines through web-based portals and the integration with parallel computing environments. Supporting communication/outreach and publication - The BA will also be responsible for preparing data analysis results and project outcomes in standardized descriptions including slides, spreadsheets, diagrams, figures, and tables for archiving, reporting, presentation, and manuscript use. Qualifications Successful candidates should have a Master’s of Science or Ph.D. degree in the life sciences, public heath, biostatistics or computer sciences with strong familiarity with bioinformatics, computational biology, genomic, transcriptomic, and cytometry data analysis and general life sciences research. Successful candidates should have advanced programming skills in at least one programming language as well as extensive experience with running and modifying Java/Perl/Python/R/Matlab programs in a variety of software environments including Unix/Linux/Windows/MacOS.
