Our products are used for applications in the life sciences, oncology, reproductive health, agriculture and other emerging segments.
This intern will will be responsible for using existing tools for DNA-seq processing, investigating and developing improvements to prediction algorithms of driver variants in genetic disorders and cancer, and evaluating the performance of these algorithms. A particular emphasis will be placed on investigating differences in mutation burden and spectrum across different tumor types, and the development of predictive algorithms related to the topic.
Qualifications & Requirements: Must be in a Masters program, PhD preferred, with a minimum 3.2 GPA (will be verified). Bioengineering, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or computational biology major preferred. Must have strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Must be able to think critically, work well independently and with others, and have high attention to detail. Scripting in R, Python or Perl and proficiency in command line (shell) required. Basic knowledge of statistics and molecular biology are required. Experience with algorithm development and research in genetics disorders or cancer preferred. Experience handling large datasets and online databases preferred. This role is located in Santa Clara, CA. Top candidates will be contacted for a phone interview, to be completed between January 20-27. The next step for final intern candidates for all California-based roles is required attendance at an evening assessment center event. Candidate travel accommodations will be provided. For San Diego roles, assessment centers will be held at our San Diego HQ location on February 17,18, 24, & 25th. Candidates will be notified of their assigned date by February 3rd. For all San Francisco Bay area roles, the event will be held at our Mission Bay location on February 22nd. For Madison roles, traditional interviews will be held the last three weeks of February.
The iAspire program only supports F-1 visa status; no other visa types are eligible. F-1 students must have at least 3 months of CPT or OPT eligibility to participate.
