Job Description:
A postdoctoral position is immediately available in Kristin Koutmou's lab in the Department of Chemistry at the University at Michigian to investigate the mechanisms underlying translational control of gene expression. We use an arsenal of biochemical, biophysical, genetic and genome-wide approaches to ask how translation factors interact within cells to regulate mRNA translation. We seek a motivated postdoc with a positive outlook, experience in biochemistry or genome-wide expression set analyses, and the adaptability to quickly learn new skills. Required Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Chemistry, Chemistry, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, or another closely related field. This person will have previous working experience in a rsearch laboratory as well as writing papers for publication. Experience with large (genome wide) data sets and coding in Python highly desired. Postdocs in the Koutmou lab are expected to assume leadership of their projects and mentor graduates students and undergraduates working alongside them to answer questions and communicate findings.
