Job Description:
UNOS is looking for a Research Scientist to lead analyses and support for scientific studies, contract deliverables, data requests, and database maintenance activities utilizing the OPTN database, research analysis datasets and other sources of data as necessary. Job Description: -Designs and conducts quantitative and qualitative research in the field of organ transplantation in order to complete contract deliverables and other projects of scientific value. -Responsible for the development, direction and execution of research studies. -Serve as primary interface with organ-specific OPTN committees. Provide analytical support and respond to requests from committees. Information on OPTN committees can be found here: https://optn.transplant.hrsa.gov/members/committees/committee-q-a/ -Directs the work of research analysts and data analysts in support of committee work and other scientific inquiry studies. Lead and manage highly complex transplantation-related projects. -Research highly complex health issues and review published literature for opportunities for new advances in transplantation knowledge. -Lead project teams and monitor project costs. -Plan/direct the preparation of proposals of significant technical complexity, contract value or strategic importance. -Direct and oversee information gathering; review technical data and information summaries. -Collaborate with other researchers and transplantation professionals on presentations and publications. -Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements 4 years of experience in research, analysis or related field with Masters Degree or 1+ years of experience with Ph.D. Critical Skills: -Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. -Proficiency with statistical programming in R and/or SAS. Additional Skills and Qualifications: -Minimum of 2 years of experience in organ transplantation is preferred. -Experience in developing and leading research/analytical studies is preferred. -Must have demonstrated ability to do independent research. -Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. -Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and within teams. -Experience in SQL programming is of interest. -Experience with data visualization software (Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, other) is of interest. Education: -Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, Health Services Research or other related field. -Ph.D. preferred Physical Requirements General office demands
