Job Description:
The Analyst, Bioinformatics/Biostatistics supports researchers in the Western IDeA states and at the University of Nevada, Reno by providing biostatistics and bioinformatics services for individual research projects. The Analyst will establish proper survey methods and experimental designs for specific projects; will apply standard biostatistical methods to large experimental data sets; use standard bioinformatics databases and tools such as BLAST, dbGaP, GeneCards, GenBank to identify and classify components of a biological system; create mathematical models to examine whole-omics data; use and develop statistical and computational pipelines to analyze next-generation sequencing data such as ChIP-seq and RNA-seq; use standard gene enrichment, network, and pathway analysis tools. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in the biological and/or computational sciences and two years of relevant work experience; Masters degree in the biological or computational sciences and one year of relevant work experience; or a Doctorate degree in the biological or computational sciences and no post-graduate work experience required.Related experience: Bioinformatics and /or Biostatistics Preferred Qualifications: Whole-omics tools and analysis methods: Using the linux/unix platform with ease Time management and task management skills
