Job Description:
Associate Bioinformatics Scientist needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh’s client located in San Diego, CA. The Big Picture – Top Skills You Should Possess: · Next Generation Sequencing · Perl/Python, Matlab/ R, and C/C++/ C# · Clinical experience What You’ll Be Doing: · Primary responsibilities will include analysis of next-generation sequencing data, novel algorithm design and providing general bioinformatics support to teams within the oncology business unit. · Employ the latest methods in bioinformatics to oncology-related next-gen sequencing data sets. · Provide support to ongoing projects in fast paced research and product development environments. · Engage in collaborative research and publications. · Maintain familiarity with current scientific computing approaches. · Maintain familiarity with the field of oncology. · Keep detailed lab notebooks, prepare reports, invention disclosures, updates and summaries for managers and teams as directed. What You Need to Bring to the Table: · B.S. or M.S. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or related field. · Background in oncology or clinical experience a plus. · Proficiency in Perl/Python, Matlab/R, and/or C/C++/C#. · Understanding & usage of bioinformatics algorithms. · Critical-thinking skills and experience in managing/interpreting large biological datasets. · Next Gen sequencing technology, tool usage, and data analysis is a plus. · Superior written and verbal communication skills.
