Job Description:
As an associate bioinformatics scientist in Illumina’s oncology business unit, you will play an integral role in supporting product development of genomics-based solutions for oncology. Primary responsibilities will include analysis of next-gen sequencing data, Client algorithm design and providing general bioinformatics support to teams within the oncology business unit Job duties include but are not limited to: Employ the latest methods in bioinformatics to oncology-related next-gen sequencing data sets.Provide support to ongoing projects in fast paced research and product development environments.Engage in collaborative research and publications.Maintain familiarity with current scientific computing approaches.Maintain familiarity with the field of oncology.Keep detailed lab notebooks, prepare reports, invention disclosures, updates and summaries for managers and teams as directed. Demonstrated accomplishment in some or all of the following skills is preferred: Proficiency in Perl/Python, Matlab/R, and/or C/C++/C#.Understanding & usage of bioinformatics algorithms.Critical-thinking skills and experience in managing/interpreting large biological datasets. Next Gen sequencing technology, tool usage, and data analysis is a plus.Superior written and verbal communication skills.B.S. or M.S. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or related field.Background in oncology or clinical experience a plus.
