Job Description:
We are now seeking to recruit an experienced bioinformatician to support our proteomics services. Senior Scientist Bioinformatics The successful candidate will provide bioinformatic support for our biomarker discovery services in proteomics – from study design and planning through to detailed interpretation of results. The daily responsibilities will include: Assembly and pre-processing of quantitative mass spectrometry data generated by our core workflows Application of exploratory data analysis techniques and pattern recognition methods to summarise vital properties of datasets Application of univariate and multivariate statistical methods for biomarker discovery Functional analysis of proteomics data to reveal detailed information on regulatory and signaling pathways affected by disease or drug treatment Data manipulation and handling of large scale “omics” datasets Development, verification and support under regulatory conditions of big data handling and visualisation tools Development of new methods for proteomics data processing and analysis Your qualifications: PhD degree or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer sciences or related disciplines In-depth knowledge of bioinformatics and statistics with a sound knowledge of molecular biology. Familiar with handling and analyzing “omics” data on all levels and a proven record of producing statistically sound results Extensive research experience in bioinformatics data analysis with a focus on handling large data sets Proficiency in programming, scripting in statistics using R (knowledge of other languages is a plus) and willingness to report and document the work under regulatory conditions Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Desirable qualifications: Experience in handling mass spectrometric data with knowledge of performing computational MS steps Profound knowledge of advanced statistical modelling techniques and machine learning methods Knowledge of relational databases and data models Basic communication skills in German (for position in Frankfurt am Main only) For this position we offer a competitive performance-related salary and many opportunities for professional and personal development in a very stimulating working environment.
