Job Description:
As a Bioinformatics scientist you will play a key role in this collaboration by executing and maintaining robust tools to support the core production analysis infrastructure. This is an entry-level position with the potential to acquire skills in a broad range of computing technologies. We are seeking an exceptional individual who shows good attention to detail and enjoys working in a highly collaborative and fast paced environment. This role will have a slant towards development, so candidates with a strong interest in tool and process development using scripting languages such as Perl and Python are encouraged to apply. Your Responsibilities May Include Responsibilities: -Working in the production analysis group to understand and deliver high quality data. -Executing well-defined analysis workflows, with the scope to improve or automate them. -Use and maintain core analysis infrastructure, web reporting and documentation. -Writing or preparing prototype code for deployment in a production environment. Personal Attributes: We seek demonstrated accomplishment in all of the following essential skills: -A bright, enthusiastic attitude with the ability to implement practical solutions -Confident in a Linux environment -Practical experience with Python / Perl scripting languages -Relational databases and database API technologies such as ORM. -Ability to deliver within fixed deadlines -Have an interest in understanding biology and disease -Any Experience In The Following Technologies Would Be Advantageous -High-performance computing environment using SGE, LSF or Amazon EC2 -Excellent problem solving skills and ability to learn quickly on the job -Software engineering productivity tools like version control and issue tracking Education: -Degree or Masters in computer science, software engineering or bioinformatics This is a rare opportunity to join the global leader in Next Generation DNA Sequencing and develop your career within bioinformatics and genomic data analysis.
