Job Description:
We are seeking an appropriately experienced individual to join our team bringing our innovative genomic technologies to oncology researchers and healthcare providers.

This role will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Assistant Controller to support and improve the accounting operations at PGDx. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the creation and support of the annual budget and period forecasts of R&D projects, reviewing account reconciliations and activity roll forwards, and performing analysis on expenses and cost drivers that would impact operating income. The position involves extensive financial and variance analysis in addition to month-end close and general ledger work. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of the accounting department. The role will have close and regular communication with PGDx commercial, operations, R&D, bioinformatics, and executive management.

Key activities include:
Assisting the month end close process for all balance sheet and income statement accounts through the preparation of journal entries, preparation and/or review of account reconciliations, and the performance of variance analysis as compared to forecast; Support the creation and preparation of annual budget and periodic financial forecasts, and then support updates/changes; Perform analysis on budgeted/forecasted data to assess impact on operating income, including, but not limited to, analysis of key expenses and cost drivers, and trend analysis; Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and departmental contacts Support the development and tracking of grant related activities Review license contracts and understand royalty terms, inputs and other considerations that factor into license revenue recognition; Assist with or lead assigned projects to improve efficiency for financial reporting and data analysis Interact and coordinate with executive management on special tasks and reporting requirements; Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. Process transactions, make copies, file and perform other duties as necessary; Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts. Prepares payments by accruing expenses; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts. Provides accounting support by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements. Assist with payroll related duties Participate in implementing process improvement initiatives; and Assist in the development, documentation and implementation of policies, procedures and internal controls for the department, and maintain compliance with such policies and controls; Other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is preferred, but 5+ years of related experience can satisfy the requirement. Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data. Strong and practical working knowledge of accounting theory and practices Proficiency utilizing accounting software, such as QuickBooks or NetSuite Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products, including advanced knowledge of Excel A minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting is required.
