This position also fosters opportunities for collaboration with investigators that are seeking more in-depth analysis than typically provided as part of standard service. Typical Duties:
- Analyze high-throughput sequencing data generated on next-generation sequencing instruments in the GRC.The sequence data will include: 1) genome sequence data from experimental approaches such as whole genome sequencing, exome sequencing, ChiP-Seq, and targeted resequencing panels 2) RNA-seq data from tissues, cells and bacteria and 3) microbiome, metagenome and metatranscriptome data from bacterial communities.Analysis will include assessment of primary sequence data quality, derivation of reproducible results, and creation of publication level figures. This requires an extensive working knowledge of linux/unix commands, computer programming languages and application of open-source software tools.
- Develop and implement tools required to format large data sets, summarize the data for investigators and produce high quality figures for manuscripts (visualization tool development).
- Develop and implement tools to track and monitor sequence data quality and output for internal GRC quality control and grant applications.
- Attend lab meetings, meeting with supervisors, attending educational seminars.
