Job Description:
The George Mason University Department of Biology, within the College of Science, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, beginning August 2017. Responsibilities:

Candidates are expected to develop and maintain a nationally recognized and externally funded research program in their area of expertise, and teach and advise in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching duties will include statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an evolutionary-oriented graduate course in the candidate's specialty. Teaching responsibilities will include courses at both the Fairfax campus and the Science and Technology (formerly Prince William) campus in Manassas, Va. The successful candidate will have access to significant resources at the Science and Technology campus, including the Microbiome Analysis Center.

Required Qualifications:

-Must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by August 15, 2017.

-Must share the department's commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate instruction.

-Ability to collaborate with faculty and graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Should have demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research.

-Proven record of external research funding.
