Job Description:
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE), situated within the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions to begin in Fall 2017. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level will be given preference, however outstanding candidates at the Associate and Full Professor levels will also be considered. Responsibilities include research, graduate student supervision, graduate and undergraduate teaching, and service. Those whose research expertise can connect with other disciplines of science, engineering and liberal arts will be given special consideration. CSSE Department actively encourages interdisciplinary research and multi-area teaching by its faculty in support of the departmental missions of research, teaching and outreach. While we encourage candidates from all areas of computer science and software engineering to apply, we are especially interested in candidates specializing in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, cyberinfrastructure, data science and engineering, distributed systems, high performance computing, machine learning, parallel processing, privacy, programming languages, security, and software engineering. One position is part of the Auburn University multidisciplinary Cluster Hires Initiative in the cluster of Omics and Informatics (O&I). The O&I Cluster cuts across agriculture, engineering, pharmacy, science and veterinary medicine. We are looking for a researcher specializing in big data (analytics, learning, mining, visualization, etc.) or informatics with the potential to collaborate with researchers from the areas represented in the cluster. The successful candidate will complement the university’s considerable existing expertise in these areas to form the core of this innovative multidisciplinary initiative. Participation in cluster activities will be an important component of faculty annual reviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Ph.D. degree in computer science, software engineering or a closely related field must be completed by the start of appointment. Excellent communication skills are required. Selected candidates must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work legally in the United States at the time of appointment for the proposed term of employment.
