Job Description:
This position supports Bioinformatics component for the Children’s Foundation Research Institute (CFRI) by transforming and strengthening informatics technologies to support research. Responsible for developing new informatics technologies including but not limited to software technologies, data storage technologies, and translational science technologies, the combination of basic science research and patient-centered clinical applications. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision and Values.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

-Knowledge of preparing peer review articles.

-Proficient in PHP, C#, SQL, CSS, JavaScript, JAVA, XML, Object-oriented design, design pattern and HTML5, Web services.

-Possesses working knowledge of Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational database, version control software, and continuous integration software.

-knowledge or experience with Data Management System (e.g., REDCap, OpenClinica, etc.)

-Possesses strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skill.

-Experience in developing applications for higher education/biomedical environments and general purpose visual analytic tools that offer a fresh way to visually browser and arrange massive amounts of data for research.

-Demonstrates the ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative research and to analyze data in order to produce publications and instructional materials for the academic and public communities and communicate these findings through presentations and articles.

Key Job Responsibilities:

-Utilizes and implements software and design practices to document bioinformatics solutions to support a wide range of infromatics and research.

-Works directly with researchers to analyze and translate their needs into technical designs and informatics solutions.

-Leads efforts to ensure that bioinformatics systems support and advance research objectives.

REQUIRED:

-Education/Formal Training: Master’s degree required in computer science, biomedical, bioinformatics, or related field.

-Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of full-time experience in integrating informatics technologies.

-Must have good balance and coordination.
