Job Description:
The Broad Institute Cancer Program is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a dynamic and rapidly growing effort (Broad Blood Biopsy Team) to profile cancer genomes directly from blood samples. This position affords the opportunity to develop and apply analytical approaches to enable detailed characterization of blood-based tumor biopsies from significant numbers of cancer patients.

The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of computational biologists, scientists, engineers, medical oncologists, and clinical research coordinators. He/She will play a critical role in the implementation and supporting of novel bioinformatics and data analysis pipelines needed to advance translational research studies.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

-Develops strategies for data analysis, builds computational pipelines, and applies novel bioinformatics methods to cancer sequencing data.

-Works closely with multidisciplinary team to explore large biological data sets and interpret results.

-Assists with analysis and methods development towards group publications and exploration of new technologies and approaches.

-Responsible for managing and assessing quality of sequencing data.

-Summarizes and organizes results from analytical pipelines.

-Attends weekly group meetings to discuss project execution and goals.

-Other related tasks as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

-B.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field required.

-Proficiency in R, Python, or Matlab required.

-Practical experience with Unix / Linux environment required.

-Experience with DNA sequencing data and working knowledge of biology strongly preferred.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

-Ability to work in a fast-paced, academic environment.
