Job Description:
Editas is seeking an experienced computational biologist to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will lead a team of computational biologists developing and implementing algorithms for our clinical genome editing platform based on CRISPR/CAS9 and CPF1. You will work closely with biologists, platform leads, and our informatics group to build robust pipelines that span a broad range of Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) methodologies as well as other big data methods (eg: FACs, multi-analyte antibody detection, imaging, and screening). The position requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines in a fast-paced team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial.

Responsibilities will include:

·Lead and develop our computational biology group

·Define and prioritize computational biology needs across the company

·Plan, write, and review code

·Present on methods and results to internal scientists & leaders, external collaborators, and at conferences

·Write papers, reports, and regulatory documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

·At least 7 years of post-academic experience, including team leadership roles

·Advanced degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biology, chemistry, or relevant computational discipline

·Programing and developer skills (e.g. Linux/Unix, Python, R, Java, Scala), cloud implementation (e.g. AWS), familiarity with life sciences software packages and algorithms, especially NGS (e.g. Picard, GTAK, bowtie, needle, etc.), and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)

·A history of achievement, demonstrated by education, publications, and work history

·Excellent communication skills
