Job Description:
We currently have an immediate opportunity for an Associate Scientst - Cell Biology to join our Research & Development Division in our New York City office.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented candidate to join a multi-disciplinary team working on a program in the chemical senses. The incumbent will support the in vitro cell biology team in investigating signaling transduction pathways involved in chemo-sensation. The main responsibilities include laboratory management and supporting the informatics platform for HTS data analysis. Candidate will also have the opportunity to gain hands on experience in molecular and cell biology techniques. Basic knowledge in programming and general biology is required. Experience with data science or bioinformatics/cheminformatics is preferred. Broad knowledge of molecular and/or cellular biology is a plus. The candidate must also be highly organized, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be capable of working in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in maintaining current HTS database and support development of new protocols for data analysis.
  • Assist in laboratory management (stock common supplies, autoclave equipment, and prepare common buffers and cell culture media).
  • Evaluate and develop new and/or novel applications of computational approaches to the analysis and triage of high throughput screening data. Cheminformatics, data mining, and lead-optimization methodology may be among the techniques applied.
  • Participate in data interpretation and incremental improvement of current procedures, protocols, and systems equipment/procedures.
Profile:
  • MS in Bioinformatics or related field with 2+ years of experience, or BS with 4+ years’ experience in an academic or industry R&D laboratory.
  • Previous experience with programming, bioinformatics, or data science.
  • Practical understanding of molecular and/or cellular biology techniques.
  • Maintains concise and accurate records, and is highly organized.
  • Experience with word processing, Excel, statistical software such as R.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing scientific computing programs.
  • Experience in software development with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML and SQL.
  • Ability to quickly acquire new skills and craft creative solutions.
