Job Description:
The bioinformatician performs a variety of computational procedures requiring accuracy, judgement and technical proficiency under minimal supervision. The incumbent complies with all ATCC corporate policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Study, research, import, build and maintain the bioinformatics databases and pipelines.
  • Understands and interprets system specifications and the computational pipelines
  • Receives and follows computational work orders, completing work as scheduled
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor and others as appropriate on work status
  • Performs bioinformatics analysis using assigned pipelines.
  • Ensures compliance with standard software development practices

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Genomic Sciences, Molecular Biology, or Genetics field plus 2-5 years or relevant experience or a Master’s degree
  • Experience in bioinformatics data analysis, data mining and processing or other related areas
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL language
  • Skills in programming languages such as Perl, PHP or Python
  • Must be familiar with publicly available bioinformatics databases, tools, algorithms
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Skills in bioinformatics and statistical analysis
