Job Description:
We seek a highly motivated computational immunologist/biologist to be part of a larger inter-disciplinary team that focuses on target discovery, validation and biomarker research in immune-oncology. The successful candidate should have a strong computational background with proven track record of having applied computational solutions to solve biological problems. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and come up with quick, robust and creative computational solutions to various research goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct computational analysis on available FACS/cyTOF, imaging and next-gen sequencing datasets including single-cell sequencing from pre-clinical model systems, and clinical trials to identify novel targets, biomarkers, resistance mechanisms of current therapies, and effective therapeutic combinations
  • Develop innovative algorithmic approaches to integrate diverse datasets and provide for robust and testable hypothesis from analyzed experimental and clinical data
  • Be up-to-date on state-of-the-art methods and techniques in computational biology and provide support on an as-needed basis to cross-disciplinary project teams

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Immunology, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics or closely related field with 2-5 years relevant experience applying state-of-the-art computational approaches to solving biological problems
  • Proven record of scientific rigor and scientific success
  • Ability to work effectively on teams and good team player attitude required
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) as demonstrated by publications & presentations
  • Ability to multi-task and project prioritization required
TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Expertise in ability to understand and extend computational algorithms for multi-color (>15 markers) flow and cyTOF analysis (and other single-cell technologies), including but not limited to viSNE, Spade, Citrus, Scaffold.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as R, Matlab, Perl, or Python
  • Experience in informatics on multiplex imaging technologies and familiarity with image analysis algorithms is preferable
  • Demonstrated an understanding of biology (specifically immunology) and is able to identify biological problems that can be efficiently solved through computational methods and algorithms
  • Ability to work closely with bench scientists to solve complex biological problems
  • Authorship demonstrating the application of mass or flow cytometry in high quality publications desirable
  • Experience in analysis of large-scale genomic data such as RNA-seq, Exome-seq, whole-genome seq, ChIP-Seq, genotype, microarrays as well as biological pathway related analysis desirable
  • Proficiency in developing web-based applications and ability to code in Java desirable
