Job Description:
Following the success of our series A financing, we are looking to recruit a Bioinformatician at PhD/early post-doctoral level with experience in mining, analyzing and integrating multi-dimensional biological data sets. This is an excellent development opportunity for a candidate looking to build their career in an innovative and world leading area of science, working with recognised experts in an emerging field of biology. This role is central to Storm’s scientific collaboration with the scientific founders’ laboratories and provides a unique opportunity to work at the academia/industry interface. You will be expected to promote your achievements with appropriate scientific publications, reports and presentations. As Bioinformatician, you will have a key role in the development of our target discovery platform, using public and proprietary data sets including online databases, DNA, RNA and ChIP-seq data generated by next generation sequencing technologies and high-throughput proteomic/mass spectrometry data. Candidate requirements: The successful candidate will have a PhD or > 2years' post doc experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related discipline. In particular you will have used programming environments to develop and apply mathematical and statistical approaches to solve biological problems such as the integration of proteomics with other –omics datasets The following attributes and skills are essential: -Experience in the use of relational databases, particularly in MySQL, and a scripting language, such as Perl or Python. -Experience of additional languages, such as Java or C, is highly desirable. -Experience in proteomic data analysis and statistics. -High-quality refereed publications as a demonstration of productivity . -Ability to work independently and deliver research projects to timescale & budget. -Good presentational skills, both oral and written. -Good inter personal skills and a track record of successful collaboration with immediate colleagues and across scientific disciplines.
