Job Description:
The Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital is looking for exceptional candidates to join our Systems Genetics and Genomics group to advance research in respiratory disease.

The goal of our group is to find genetic and genomic risk factors for chronic lung disease, focusing on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the third leading cause of death in the United States. The work will be performed as part of an interdisciplinary team, consisting of geneticists and genetic epidemiologists, biostatisticians, computational biologists, and translational scientists and clinicians. Projects will include analysis and management of genome-wide, including whole-genome, genetic data; transcriptome and epigenome data, and integrative analysis. Successful candidates will work closely with postdoctoral fellows, junior, and senior faculty to and make substantial contributions to computational analysis and discovery.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and use existing computational pipelines for analysis of research data.
  • Efficiently leverage local compute, public and private cloud.
  • Oversee data processing, dissemination, and access to high-throughput sequencing data.
  • Provide statistical and analytic support.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required
  • Masters degree in a quantitative field (computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, or similar) and at least a year experience in data analysis preferred
  • Proficiency in R / Bioconductor (preferred) or Python
  • Experience in the linux environment and command line
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and documentation skills, and ability to adhere to reproducible research standards and version control
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background and experience in genomic data analysis.
