What you can expect:

As part of an enthusiastic global team of experts in our department Digitalization in Research & Development, you will provide decision support to our white biotechnology, crop protection and plant science research and development -activities.

  • In the research group Computational Chemistry & Bioinformatics your tasks range from collecting, analyzing and comparing of biological data to the development of machine learning techniques and statistical analyses.
  • Given your expertise, you will develop, apply and evaluate new software solutions and web applications to manage data flood and turn it to meaningful actionable items.
  • You will provide guidance to our project partners regarding experimental setup, data collection and processing.
  • Moreover, you will play a significant role in managing projects, as well as active participation in global cross-functional teams.
What we expect:
  • During your PhD in Bioinformatics or a related field like Systems Biology or Biochemistry, you have gained experience in handling and analysis of biological data.
  • In addition, you have profound scripting abilities (e.g. Python, R, shell scripting), and experience in at least one programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java).
  • You have a working knowledge of UNIX-like operating systems and database systems and thorough knowledge of bioinformatics tools.
  • Experience with genomics, transcriptomics or proteomics data, as well as basic knowledge of modern web development frameworks and Docker would be a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably German are your means to convey your expertise to our project partners.
  • In addition to your professional skills, your distinct entrepreneurial and team spirit is persuading.
