Job Description:
Bioinformaticist, Junior Key Role: Maintain responsibility for working closely within a multi–functional team. Maintain scientific help desk office hours during business hours. Answer questions on statistical analysis and data and tools housed within the GENISIS system. Troubleshoot issues that arise with genomic analysis tools and pipelines. Document all issue requests in a ticketing system Basic Qualifications: -Experience with computers, including query and scripting languages, such as SQL, Perl, Python, or Shell -Experience with common open source genomic analysis tools, including PLINK, R, Eigensoft, or Impute2 -Experience with public genomic data sources, including HapMap or 1000G -Ability to obtain a security clearance -BA or BS degree in CS, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics and 5 years of experience with handling genomic data, MA or MS degree in CS, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics and 5 years of experience with handling genomic data PhD degree in CS, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics and 2 years of experience with handling genomic data Additional Qualifications: -Experience with Linux Enterprise, Microsoft Windows, or Apple OS -Experience with both Illumina and Affymetrix platforms -Experience with sequence alignment and variant calling pipelines, including BWA or GATK -Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, or Project -Experience with statistical analysis, including array–based analyses, machine learning, data mining, or statistical modeling -Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely communicate complex concepts to clients, researchers, and onsite staff Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
