Job Description:
Data Modeler, Junior Key Role: Work independently and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to assist the government client. Develop structural and functional genomic and molecular data annotations. Update genomic and molecular data models as data annotations change and evolve for downstream research purposes. Manage relationships between and among concepts. Develop and implement metadata and metathesaurus standards and searchable annotations. Basic Qualifications: -Experience with query and scripting languages, including SQL, Perl, Python, and Shell -Knowledge of common standards and best practices for data elements, data types, and file formats -Knowledge of genomic and molecular databases and tools, including GenBank, GO, KEGG, and Pfam -BA or BS degree with 5 years of experience in data modeling, implementation, transformation, and analysis of genomic or molecular data or a PhD degree with 2 years of experience in data modeling, implementation, transformation, and analysis of genomic or molecular data Additional Qualifications: -Experience with medical standard vocabularies and coding principles, including ICD9/10, SNOMED, and LOINC -Experience with semantic Web technology, including RDF and OWL, and graphical databases -Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Word Documents, and Project -Knowledge of data life cycle and innovative concepts, including data strategy, data governance, and master data management -Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely communicate complex concepts to clients, researchers, and on-site staff -BA or BS degree in CS, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field preferred; MA or MS degree or PhD degree in CS, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field a plus
