Job Description:
The Integrative Genomics Group in the Behavioral and Urban Health Program at RTI International has an immediate opening for aBioinformatics Analyst team member. Our NIH-funded research portfolio focuses on the genetic and epigenetic determinants of complex diseases and their interaction with environmental factors. We emphasize cross-institute and university collaborations to advance understanding of the etiology of substance use disorders, infectious disease susceptibility, and pulmonary dysfunction.

This position is available in theResearch Triangle Park area of North Carolina.

-Perform statistical analyses of ‘omics data, including genome-wide genetic variation, DNA methylation, and RNA sequencing data. -Perform statistical analyses to integrate multiple ‘omics data types concurrently. -Implement standard and newly developed software for quality control and statistical analyses. -Support the management of ‘omics data from study investigators as well as publically available resources. -Contribute to designing, developing and deploying robust workflows, as well as custom scripts, to support the analysis of high-throughput data. -Assist with the preparation of scientific conference abstracts and peer-reviewed manuscripts. -Assist with submission of grant proposals.

-Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Genetics, Computer Science, or related discipline (May 2017 graduates will be considered) Applicants may be required to show transcripts.

-Experience managing and analyzing large biological system databases such as genome wide methylation expression or genotype data.

-Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and resources (e.g., ENCODE, Roadmap Epigenomics).

-Proficiency with scripting (e.g., Python, Perl, C++) and programming languages (e.g., R, SAS) and with working in a linux/unix environment.

-Experience with data storage, retrieval, and data mining for complex data sets is preferred.

-Experience with cluster and/or cloud computing.

-Strong oral and written communication skills.
