Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Research Scientist/ Bioinformatician at our Research Institute located in Evanston, IL. This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible. Hours will be scheduled Monday-Friday.

For this position, we are seeking candidates with a strong research background in statistics and bioinformatics to analyze human genomic data, such as high-throughput genotyping and DNA and RNA sequencing data, and a Ph.D. degree. The position is at the Center for Psychiatric Genetics together and the Genomic Health Initiative program of NorthShore.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

-Provide technical guidance in bioinformatics of the human genome.

-Be cognizant of the main trends and state of the art of the bioinformatic field.

-Analyze large bioinformatic datasets, including genotypic data, and DNA and RNA sequence.

-Develop new analytical tools and modifications and implementation of current software as needed.

-Work on bioinformatic aspects of NIH grant applications and author scientific papers.

-Manage computer resources and research databases.

-Collaborate with information technology on interface of genomic data.

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will have:

-Ph.D Degree preferred.

-Strong background in Linux environment and Shell.

-Ability to program in R, Perl, Python and Bash Script.

-Familiarity with SQL databases and queries.
