Job Description:
In order to manage and analyze this volume of data the Bioinformatics Analyst will provide support across the Human Vaccines Project Bioinformatics Hub to help with data capture, transfer, management, storage, and analysis requirements of the Human Vaccines Project (HVP). The primary responsibilities of the Bioinformatics Analyst are:

  • Assess the performance of different computation methods for the analysis of both flow cytometry and single cell RNA sequencing experiments.
  • Analyze vaccine-related data captured from the Immunology Database and Analysis Resource - ImmPort.
  • Act as a data wrangler in order to curate the data coming from HVP sites into the HVP Bioinformatics Hub to ensure its completeness and accuracy.
  • Work to provide high availability standardized data with advanced analytical capabilities in an effort to disseminate primary HVP data to public data archives and to provide the external stakeholders a portal to HVP derived data.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Successful candidates should have a Master’s of Science or Ph.D., in the statistical sciences/biostatistics, mathematical or computer sciences, life sciences, or biomedical informatics with strong familiarity with bioinformatics, computational biology, genomic, transcriptomic, and cytometry data analysis, and a general understanding of life sciences research. Successful candidates should have advanced programming skills in at least one programming language, with preference for R/Bioconductor, as well as extensive experience with running and modifying data analytical programs in a variety of programming languages and software environments. A working knowledge of immunology and infectious diseases is also desirable.
