Job Description:
Working alongside our Head of Bioinformatics, you will have the opportunity to build and shape the development of bioinformatics tools that will directly impact and improve the experimental design process for our scientific users!

Responsibilities:

  • The Bioinformatic Analyst’s main responsibility involve assisting in the development, updating and maintenance of the BenchSci bioinformatics databases
  • Collection of reagent catalog information from vendors and subsequent generation, updating and maintenance of the reagent product database
  • Research and development of future bioinformatics features and deployment on the BenchSci Platform

Qualifications:

PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics or systems biology, or MSc with 3+ years experience

The candidate must possess:

  • Sufficient knowledge in molecular/cell biology and genetics
  • Sufficient knowledge and some experience in some of the following experimental biology techniques, including but not limited to:
  • - Immunological methods (in vitro, cell-based and analytical)

    - Genetics (cloning, CRISPR, high-throughput screens)

    - Functional assays (kinase assays, cytotoxicity, neutralization/activation)

    - Analytical Biology (pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics analysis, LC/MS, SPR)

  • Sufficient knowledge in database design, implementation and management
  • Sufficient knowledge in computer programming languages (R and Python)
  • Sufficient knowledge in distributed computer techniques (VMs, cloud computing)
  • Solid knowledge in using major biological resources such as RefSeq, Ensembl and UniProt
  • Knowledge in using major resources for network biology such as String, PathwayCommons, GeneMania and Reactome
  • Solid experience in working with protein interactions and gene regulatory networks data
  • Knowledge in machine learning is an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, to handle multiple concurrent priority tasks with tight deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Extreme focus on details
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada
