The Bioinformatics Analyst will: ·Work with a highly-collaborative interdisciplinary team developing a novel method of sequencing the Mycobacterium tuberculosis transcriptome in complex human samples. ·Work closely with the Principal Investigators to analyze bacterial and human genomic and transcriptomic datasets. ·Complete tasks including, but are not limited to, performing primary analysis of next-generation sequence data in a Linux computing environment, testing hypotheses using various statistical tests, creating summary reports, generating visualizations of experimental results using a range of software tools and presenting results in team settings. - Collaborates with and supports scientists in the area of bioinformatics analysis.
- Assist with the design and development of major bioinformatics-related programming projects.
- Writes custom scripts to access databases and analyze data.
- Writes custom web tools for scientists.
- Assists with the preparation and teaching of courses and/or demonstrations on the use of bioinformatics tools.
- Develops and uses gene/protein functional annotation tools and programs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Performs, as directed, safety compliance and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as needed.
- Participates in Quality Assessment (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) programs, as directed.
- Ensures compliance with Joint Commission on and all other Federal, State and Regulatory Agencies.
- Responds promptly and sincerely to customer's needs, requests and concerns via all communication forms using easily understood language and refraining from using inappropriate language and non-verbal gestures.
