Job Description:
This person will conduct bioinformatics and genomic research, and provide her/his expertise to lab members in the collection, management, interpretation, and analysis on biological, pathological, and molecular pathological data, with a focus on, but not limited to, high-throughput technologies with strong emphasis on next-generation sequencing. The main responsibility of this position is on the application of state-of-art bioinformatics technologies to analyze and integrate large scale omics datasets. Require familiarity with existing genomic databases such as, but not limited to, TCGA, ENCODE, CCLE, etc. Proficiency in programming using either R/Perl/Python/Java/C++ is a must. Familiarity with SAS, biostatistics, quantitative analysis, exome and RNA-seq analysis, and NGS laboratory procedures are preferred, but not required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as are the abilities to work both independently and collaboratively and to meet deadlines. Require a BS, MS, or PhD in bioinformatics/computational biology, computer science, biostatistics, life sciences, or with related experiences.

Responsibilities:

This Bioinformatics Analyst will:

  1. Meet with lab members and collaborators to provide bioinformatics consultation in the analysis of experimental data
  2. Communicate with lab members and collaborators to understand and obtain data analysis specifications
  3. Design data analysis project plans and estimate time to completion
  4. Work independently and as a team member to analyze data, developing software tools and analytical pipelines where necessary
  5. Provide publication quality documentations at the end of each data analysis project
  6. Provide education and training in bioinformatics and data analysis topics
  7. Evaluation, development, and support of new bioinformatics methods
  8. Work collaboratively with or guide other lab members to develop the resources in the laboratory
Qualifications:

Require a BS, MS or PhD preferred in bioinformatics, computer science, biostatistics, life sciences, or with related experiences.

  1. Abilities to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with scientists to understand experimental systems for the development and implementation of data analysis solutions.
  2. Proficiency in programming using either R/Perl/Python/Java/C++ for statistical programming and ability to prototype software solutions and analytical pipelines for data analysis
  3. Familiarity with genomic technologies and their applications
  4. Familiarity with a wide range of biological databases and resources
  5. Familiarity with meta-analysis methods, including functional class enrichment and pathway analysis.
  6. Abilities to estimate time for various projects and to keep accurate records of work performed are essential.
  7. Excellent communication skills are essential.
