Bioinformatics Data Engineer

Job Description:
Astrix Technology Group is hiring NOW for a Bioinformatics Data Curator for our client, a world leader in the Bio/Science industry.

• Part of the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Department
• Process and curate clinical and molecular biomarker assay data from clinical trials and studies. Cleaning and curating raw data to make ready for integration. Software development: R, Excel, SAS, Linux
• Process and curate clinical and molecular biomarker assay data from clinical trials and studies
• Part of a team of data curators and programmers who will work together to produce integrated data sets and develop tools and processes to improve the data curation workflow.

Basic project core responsibilities:

· Gathering data requirements

· Assessing and documenting raw source data

· Cleaning and curating raw data to make ready for integration

· Software development: R, Excel, SAS, Linux

· Working with Bioinformatics and Life Scientists to improve data curation capabilities

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS degree in Computer Science or Life Sciences related field.
• Knowledge and experience with R, SAS, SQL, Python, Java is preferred; must be proficient with Excel; database and data management background is advantageous.

Skills:

• Strong software engineering skills and Unix/Linux proficiency

• High level of proficiency with R programming language and or other scripting languages (Python, perl, etc.)

• Good data science practice, and understanding of data complexity

• Strong undergraduate, or potentially with a masters

A plus, but not essential

• Experience in NGS data analysis (e.g. WES, expression data, ChIP) and familiarity with NGS technologies and platforms

• Experience with Bioconductor packages for genomic bioinformatics

• Experience in ChIP-seq data processing/analysis is a plus
