Job Description:
Applications are invited for Bioinformatics Developer to join the Bioinformatics and Statistical Genetics Core group at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics (WHG), Oxford, South East England, United Kingdom.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include development support for bioinformatics pipelines for genomic sequencing data, and developing new functionality to meet a variety of operational and research-related needs. You will work closely with other software developers and bioinformaticians, as well as the Genomics lab team. You will have a strong set of programming and software development skills, ideally gained in a bioinformatics context. You will enjoy working as part of a team, be highly adaptable and thrive in an environment pushing the boundaries of genomics applications.
Additional Info:
You will hold a Masters or higher degree, or equivalent experience, in computer science, bioinformatics or a related discipline with expertise in at least one programming language e.g. Python or Perl. You will have experience working in a Linux environment, command line usage and shell scripting, and adhere to good programming/software development principles.Practical experience of software development would be an advantage. The ability to work and communicate in a multidisciplinary team with an enthusiastic and proactive approach, and the flexibility to manage and respond to a variety of tasks are also essential.[Click Here to Access the Original Job Post]
