Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Director will manage a new Bioinformatics core facility on campus. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the facility including processing and analyzing data, maintaining equipment, and consulting a diverse group of scientists. Job Duties: – Direct and manage the Bioinformatics core facility on campus. – Manage all aspects of the facility including processing and analyzing data. – Maintain equipment. – Consult with a diverse group of scientists. – Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: – PhD in a quantitative science or bioinformatics. – Experience processing and analyzing high throughput data. – Expertise in data analysis including experimental design, exploratory data analysis, and application of appropriate statistical methods. – Comfortable teaching and/or giving workshops on Computational Biology. – Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals as well as consulting on an as needed basis. – Interest in collaborating on research projects. Preferred Qualifications: – RNA sequencing analysis software experience. – Knowledge of single cell genomics. – System administration experience. – Cloud computing experience.
