Job Description:
You will join a team of bioinformaticians and software engineers whose mission is to develop robust, high-performance pipelines that can accurately and reliably analyze large volumes of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Our pipelines provide the foundation for a wide range of clinical and research applications, from genetic disease research, to cancer clinical diagnostics, to leading-edge developments in immuno-oncology. We are looking for someone who will focus on ensuring the highest possible accuracy of these pipelines, including designing and executing clinical-grade validation plans for our products. Responsibilities: Participate in the development, deployment, and maintenance of our bioinformatics pipelines, focusing on improving robustness and accuracy. Lead the development and execution of our pipeline validation processes. Coordinate with QA engineers to design and execute test plans, and to help guide pipelines through QA and into Production. Work with the operations team to help rapidly resolve any issues encountered in the Production environment. Education: Minimum BS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field. MS/PhD preferred. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years experience working in a bioinformatics role. Qualifications: Bioinformatics Experience with high-throughput bioinformatics analyses of NGS data, including use of standard tools such as BWA, GATK, SAMTools, etc. Experience developing high-performance pipelines for sequence alignment, variant-calling, and variant annotation Ability to develop and execute clinical-grade validation of NGS pipelines, including deep understanding of the salient statistical metrics Familiarity with different assays and modes of sequencing (WGS vs. Exome, RNA-seq) Some background in molecular biology and genomics Software development Expertise in at least one common programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java, R) Expertise with BASH scripting and Unix/Linux command line tools Experience with software development best practices, including: unit testing, continuous integration, issue tracking, software life cycle, and code sharing Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git Familiarity with grid computing systems, such as SGE
