Job Description:
We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Master or Doctoral Degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, Statistics or related degree for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmunity department.

The department is seeking an intern, with an interest in accelerating the development of new medicines, strong skills with genomic data analysis, and familiarity with R coding and Unix/Linus operating systems. The goal of this position is to facilitate genomics and proteomics data analysis to support drug target discovery and better understanding of disease mechanisms.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing genomic (such as microarray and next generation sequencing (NGS)) and proteomic data to facilitate new drug target discovery
  • Developing user-friendly and interactive visualization tool to provide biological insights from NGS data
  • Implementing data mining models to existing data to bring up and validate hypothesis
  • Direct interaction with scientists to generate ideas and test hypothesis
Position Requirements:
  • Flair for programming, with experience with programming in R and client side web development tools
  • Experience in analyzing NGS and microarray data
  • Experience in creating interactive visualization tools using R shiny or other tools
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux operation
  • Understanding of immunology and statistics is preferred
  • Graduate student
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0+
