The applicant will provide computational and programmatic expertise by developing, implementing, testing, and supporting web applications and scripts for processing, analyzing, and displaying scientific data, such as expression data (NGS, Chip-platforms, GEO), siRNA screening, GWAS data, text-mined data, and other types of biological data. The applicant will interface with others in the Computational Biology team and provide novel ideas and approaches to advance the Drug Discovery process. Will actively contribute to the discovery, development and delivery of our products to our patients and customers. - Implement scientific data processing pipelines and bioinformatics analytic workflows for use by internal Computational Biology team.
- Produce and test functional code based on scientific project requirements
- Independently develop, document, implement, test, and support web-based or cloud solutions for processing, analyzing, and displaying scientific data
- Assist scientific data curation including public and internal data processing, ontology integration, QC and integration
- Work closely with Computational Biology team to communicate project goal, solution, deliverable, and issues.
- Demonstrate ability to learn and stay up-to-date on emerging technologies in related field
- Graduate degree, or B.S. degree with 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in scientific software development projects.
- Expertise with Python, including Python-based web framework such as Flask or Django
- Strong knowledge of Javascripts coding , experience of at least one modern data visualization library: (i.e. D3.js ,three.js).
- Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally
- Demonstrated experience in a specific scientific area, preferably biology or medicine, or in analyzing high dimensional biological data sets
- Experience with R statistics language and data visualization (R shiny) or bioinformatics pipeline/workflow development
- Experience related to software architecture, developing software in Python, Java, C++, and other languages
- Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases desirable
