Job Description:
Bioinformatics Programmer (Job Opening 428635) - Biomedical Informatics Specialist functioning as a Bioinformatics Programmer to implement and support complex scientific software tools and deployment for basic and clinical research studies as a member of the Department of Biomedical Informatics; supports project management through developing programming code to monitor, summarize, and evaluate the completeness of data for basic and clinical research studies; provides statistical programming, including formatting, coding and curating analysis ready data sets; prepares basic descriptive and inferential analyses with supervision from senior statisticians identifies and resolves data related issues; Designs and develops integrated data analysis pipelines, contributes to on-going pipeline infrastructure development efforts; Identifies and resolve hardware and software issues; works closely with database architects to provide quality control measures; utilizes software tools to accommodate the user requests with a minimum turn- around time; works with a team of biostatisticians to analyze study data and report results; interacts with biomedical researchers, providing technical expertise and developing successful solutions to meet their requirements; works with stakeholders from BMI partnerships to develop reports; develops tables and figures of results for inclusion in journal articles, posters and seminar presentations. Education and experience: Bachelors degree in biomedical informatics, computer and information science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; computer operations experience required; Mastera??s Degree preferred; experience in SQL, XML/XSLT, database design and data integration, and database development (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle) required; data warehouse experience desired; experience in a research environment desired; experience utilizing EHR/EMR data for secondary use purposes desired; requires successful completion of a background check; candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
