Job Description:

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Research Assistant to apply computer programming techniques to in-silico custom probe designs for genetics applications. The ideal candidate will be proficient with bioinformatic techniques in the Linux environment and will be familiar with next-generation sequencing (NGS) experimental research goals in a molecular biology setting (e.g. genomic DNA sequencing, RNA-seq, etc). This individual will work closely with our NGS Product Management team to design custom hybridization capture probes (under our myBaits® product line) for a diverse set of clients, primarily working in genetics of non-model organisms.
Additional Info:
Bachelors degree or equivalent job experience in life sciences
Familiarity with NGS research priorities
Adept at working in Linux environment
Ability to code in at least 1 relevant programming language (e.g. Perl, Java, Python)
Strong understanding of nucleotide sequencing data (e.g. genome assemblies, annotation files, NGS read files, etc) and ability to manage relevant files/formats
Intellectual curiosity and passion for learning new techniques
Excellent communication of scientific findings
