Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician/computational biology to join our Translational Bioinformatics NGS/proteomics support team. Function as a Translational bioinformatician with a focus on DNASeq and genetic data integration. The successful candidate will help advance Bristol-Myers Squibb’s industry leading O/IO pipeline through the strategic application of cutting edge bioinformatics approaches. This team sits at a critical junction of the data flow and impacts translational research at BMS from early discovery through late stage development.

Responsibilities:

  • Data processing and QC of large-scale, omic datasets including Whole Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing, etc...
  • Development of novel analysis pipelines
  • Provide access to public datasets in collaboration with other translational scientists.
  • Collaborate with bioinformaticians, statisticians, biologists, and clinicians to implement and execute novel data processing pipelines.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, engineering, statistics, physics, molecular biology, genetics, or a similar discipline with less than 2 years of experience or MSc with 2-5 years of experience.
  • Strong background in -omic (NGS) data processing and analysis.
  • Familiarity with WES and WGS processing pipelines and downstream analysis tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively with biologists, biostatisticians and computational scientists
  • Proficiency using at least one scripting language (Python, Perl), bash, and SQL.
  • Experience with Linux based high performance compute environments (Amazon EC2), R/Bioconductor, and reproducible research practices
  • Experience with de novo assembly and HLA typing/MHC work is a plus
  • Experience with building and running high throughput genomics analysis pipelines a plus
  • Working knowledge of publicly available biological databases including NCBI, Ensembl, dbGAP, GEO, SRA, TCGA, etc.
