Job Description:
We are seeking passionate and talented individuals to join us in realizing our mission, which has the potential to dramatically reduce the global burden of cancer.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bioinformatics Scientist will be part of a cross functional product development team responsible for the development of methods, pipelines, and algorithms for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data. We are looking for people familiar with targeted, bisulphate, and whole genome sequencing. This role will be working closely with our wet lab, R&D, clinical and software teams to develop novel processes and solutions. You will be self-driven and will have the ability to come up with innovative solutions with little direction.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the design and coordination of product development activities, implementing, prototyping, troubleshooting, testing and optimizing existing product features.
  • Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Exercise judgment in defining methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Collaborate with software engineering, marketing, operations, biostatistics and bioinformatics teams, as well as internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular progress reports and accurate updates on schedules, plans and technology readiness.
  • Translate findings into recommendations for the development of new products.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
  • Ph.D. or Masters in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, Computer Science, or related field is highly desirable.
  • We are seeking professionals with at least 1 year of industry experience. We are also open to senior and principal level professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with assay teams and in depth understanding of assay performance and improvement.
  • Experience designing and developing clinical grade bioinformatics next generation sequencing data analysis solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge of statistics as applied to analysis of NGS data and analytical study design
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one programming language (Java, Perl, Python, etc.), proficiency in Linux environment, with source control practices and tools (Perforce, Git, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience through publications.
  • History of success working in cross functional teams.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed, ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical end-users.
  • Understanding of statistical packages such as R or Matlab is desirable.
