Job Description:
The successful candidate will join the Informatics group, and focus is on data analysis and software engineering to enable SlipChip’s diagnostic product development. The Bioinformatics Scientist will:

  • Design and develop bioinformatics tools for primer and assay design.
  • Participate in the design and development of software, informatics infrastructure, and databases for bioinformatics data analysis and management.
  • Perform statistical analysis and build machine learning models to develop data processing and quality control metrics and methods for optimizing SlipChip’s assays.
  • Work in close collaboration with the molecular biology group and with cross-functional teams in R&D, to develop bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
  • Apply Software Development Best Practices while building scientific, bioinformatics, and data analysis pipelines.
  • Prepare data and content for presentations or other company relevant materials.
Requirements:
  • PhD or MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related fields with 3+ years experience.
  • Strong background in machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling.
  • Extensive experience in bioinformatics tools for sequence retrieval and analysis, and primer design.
  • Experience in modern web-based technologies; HTML, CSS, and Javascript, specifically libraries such as React and Redux.
  • Experience in software development tools and technologies, Python, Django, REST APIs, SQL, and relational databases (in particular, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Linux, file management, and scripting.
  • Experience in software testing and documentation.
