Job Description:
We are seeking an engaged scientist to join our oligoinformatics group in the research department in a three-year entry-level position. Our group is responsible for drug design and computational prediction of drug properties and consists of a team of scientists with diverse backgrounds. Working at the interface between bioinformatics and chemoinformatics, we carry out RNA therapeutics technology research focused on being able to predict how the structure of our chemically modified oligonucleotide drug candidates affects chemical and biological properties. We actively participate as drug designers and data analysts in the discovery projects.

About the position:

Your role will be to participate in drug discovery projects in various disease areas as well as to initiate and carry out research projects. In particular we are seeking candidates who can contribute to the development and application of sequencing technology in our discovery and research projects, and have solid experience with applying methods from machine learning to diverse types of data. To be successful in this role it is essential that you can work with people across many different disciplines and cultures, and enjoy finding creative and data-driven solutions to our business needs in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

  • MSc degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, biotechnology)
  • PhD in a quantitative discipline with emphasis on biological data analysis skills (e.g. bioinformatics, molecular biology, biostatistics, biophysics)
  • Experience from postdoctoral positions in initiating, carrying out, and concluding research projects. In particular research experience in RNA biology, biological sequence analysis and RNA-Seq data analysis
  • Working experience with statistical methods, data analysis techniques, and machine learning algorithms
  • Strong skills in a statistical programming language such as R and a database querying language like SQL
  • Experience articulating scientific questions and using mathematical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Preferably hands-on experience with experimental techniques such as cell culturing, RNA purification, and RNA quantification with qPCR or RNA-Seq
