Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Scientist will be responsible for organizing and maintaining existing software code base developed in house in addition to playing a role in new product development. The candidate will also be responsible for providing customer support and troubleshooting with internal and external customers. The ideal candidate must have strong Perl and R skillset in addition to other scripting and OOP languages like Python and Java. The ideal candidate should also have a strong JavaScript and web development background.

Required skills and experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement novel analysis tools for both internal use and as part of the Agena product line
  • Organize and maintain existing code base, making the necessary updates and improvements to the existing Agena assay development group software
  • Provide customer support and troubleshooting to Agena internal and external customers
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries and design documents for the existing and upcoming software projects
  • Analyze data with the help of software packages such as MatLab, Excel, JMP or R and report and present data in team meetings
  • Maintain familiarity with current scientific developments
Skills:
  • Applies principles, concepts, practices and standards of a professional field to complete a variety of on-going assignments and projects.
  • Uses professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a variety of problems.
  • Proficiency with Perl, R, Python and Java.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript and web development.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL language.
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis tools like JMP, MatLab and R or other statistical software is highly preferred.
  • Detail oriented and strong troubleshooting skills.

Experience:

MS. in Bioinformatics or Computer Science or closely related field, with a minimum of 2 years of full time work experience. Strong knowledge of molecular biology and genetics.
