Job Description:
We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to play an instrumental role in support of our Biotech clients comprised of leading research organizations. We seek a candidate that has the experience in genomic research and tools currently being used with an overall understanding of the industry and key advances that are taking place in genomic research.

You will work with research users, computational biologists and bioinformaticians in providing data analysis support. In your position, you will develop user requirements and assist new customers in implementing solutions that are scalable and leverage the benefits of the Digicon platform. The work involves analyzing next generation sequencing and large scale genomic data. You will develop workflows and apply tools for processing and analyzing large biological data sets. You must possess skills in high-throughput data analysis and familiarity with widely used genomic databases and software. This includes assessing new tools and providing support for implementation of software in order to improve our platform.

This contract position provides a flexible part-time schedule and an exciting opportunity to advance the capabilities of scientific research by leveraging new developments in technology and tools to accelerate scientific discoveries.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated success supporting next-generation sequencing data analysis
  • Develop and support software pipelines for the processing and analysis of next-generation sequence data
  • Provide broad-based programming and database technology support on Linux or UNIX platforms
  • Coordinate new customer platform design, development and installation
  • Provide customer support with proven ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Proven experience deploying tools for genomic data analysis, integration and visualization
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Must be able to work independently with proven critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience providing software demonstrations and training
Required Education:

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field (M.S. with 3 years of relevant experience is equivalent to a PhD

Location: Candidate must reside in the Washington DC and/or Baltimore Metro Area

Physical Demands. Works in office areas. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Uses personal computer, telephones, copiers, printers and other office equipment. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
