Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to provide technical expertise in analysis of high-throughput data associated with the development of a genomic patient assay as a clinical diagnostic product. This highly-skilled individual will develop and maintain automated tools for processing and interpreting experimental data from NGS and additional platforms in support of the internal R&D program and as part of on-going comprehensive clinical studies of mutations in tumor DNA and RNA.

Work with an interdisciplinary group of computational and molecular biologists focused on the using massively parallel sequencing technology for the characterization of genetic alterations present in tumor genomic DNA and RNA

Develop, maintain and analyze lab QC metrics to support R&D and lab operations

Process, analyze and interpret high volumes of data as part of internal and external clinical studies

Develop automated methods and software to support large-scale bioinformatics analysis

Prepare and deliver presentations based on scientific and technical progress/innovations

Work independently and prepare timetables, deliverables, and project schedules

PhD degree in Bioinformatics or related field; or MS with 3+ years of experience

Experience in processing of high-volume genomic data such as microarrays or NGS

Experience in working with bioinformatics portals/databases such us UCSC Genome Browser, NCBI Entrez, dbSNP.

Working knowledge of Python or other scripting language. Ability to understand and modify existing code, as well as develop new scripts.

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, dynamic and results-oriented startup environment

Ability to present data to a multidisciplinary audience in a clear and cohesive manner. Facile with graphical data presentation tools including excel, jupyter notebooks or R.

High energy level, a driving sense of urgency and a “can do” orientation with a focus on scientific integrity and clinically useful results

Excellent teamwork, time management and organizational skills

Desired Skills and Experience

Prior experience in regulated, clinical diagnostics environment is preferred

Background in cancer biology is a strong plus

Experience in NGS data analysis is preferred
