Job Description:
The algorithms and data analysis department seeks a talented and motivated individual to provide advanced analytical and software support for product research and development efforts.

The successful candidate in this position will work closely with the Data Analysis team to develop analysis methods for genotyping SNPs and other complex variants. Approaches will target genotyping species of non-human organisms, with genomic complexity such as inbreeding, polyploidy, paralogous sequence variation, and subpopulation diversity.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

-Advanced genomic analysis of complex variants from plant and animal genomes.

-Data mining in large internal and external databases.

-Data analysis of complex datasets from our internal R&D labs as well as customer data.

-Creating/maintaining internal software tools and methods.

-Implementation of algorithms, including prototypes for commercial software development.

-Development of new methods for resolving problems/issues.

-Analysis consultation with Affymetrix scientists.

-Communication of analyses and results to expert audiences.

Position Requirements:

-Masters or PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Biology or Genetics, with a strong background in applied genomic data analysis.

-Experience in one and preferably two of the following: R, Perl, Python, C++.

-Experience with big data and statistical analysis.

-Ability to query database with SQL.

-Experience with microarray analysis is desirable.

-Experience with the genetics of complex plant and animal genomes is a plus.

-Experience with modeling of data for microbiome analysis is a plus.

-Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
