Job Description:
We are hiring for a Bioinformatics Scientist II position that offers the opportunity to work in translational bioinformatics for the very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO-IBD) research group based at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), in collaboration with CHOP’s Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHI). This translational program is studying the unique genomic contribution to the disease through next generation sequencing and functional analyses. This research will be performed in an interdisciplinary environment in collaboration between DBHI and CHOP-based faculty from the University of Pennsylvania, including Dr. Judith Kelsen, Dr. Noor Dawany, and Dr. Marcella Devoto.

Job Responsibilities:

The candidate will work, under a moderate degree of supervision, within our bioinformatics team to lead the development of algorithms and construct novel predictive models for precision medicine applications based on analysis of Whole Exome Sequencing and SNP arrays from cohorts affected with pediatric inflammatory bowel disease.

It is expected that this individual will contribute directly to the overall translational research goals of the project and the research group. They may also be required to develop new methods and protocols for research, and assist with the development of other research projects in the lab. Academic output, while not a primary focus of this position, is also expected with a moderate degree of supervision.
