Job Description:
Applications are invited for a Bioinformatics (Senior) Experimental Officer position to work with investigators at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Matrix Research (WTCCMR, http://www.wellcome-matrix.org). You will provide bioinformatics expertise to on-going projects at the Centre, working in particular on the analysis and interpretation of large datasets produced from ‘-omics’ and high-content imaging methods. The role will require the development of analysis solutions to complex biological problems, using established data-processing pipelines (e.g. for proteomics or image analysis; accessing online databases and repositories), novel coding (e.g. Matlab, Python) and statistical analysis (e.g. using ‘R’). You will have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics or a related area of research. Work will be based at the WTCCMR and will be in close collaboration with the Core Facilities at the Centre. Duties will include design of experiments, data processing, training co-workers, presentation of work and preparation for publication. This is a full time appointment starting 1 December 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter, and is currently funded until November 2021.
