Job Description:
Working as part of the Bioinformatics team based in our global headquarters in Craigavon, you will provide support to Almac Diagnostics software development activities to maintain and expand bioinformatics programs/pipelines and clinical assay reporting & delivery tools. As part of a busy team within a rapidly growing organisation, operating within a challenging industry you will benefit from the numerous personal and professional developmental opportunities available throughout the Almac group. Essential Criteria: -Educated to at least an MSc level in bioinformatics, computer science or a related discipline. -Demonstrable computation and software development skills. -Proficient coding skills in one or more development language (e.g. Matlab,Python, R/Bioconductor, Perl, C/C++/C#, etc.) -Solid database development skills (e.g. SQL/PL-SQL,MySQL,Oracle). -Working knowledge of Server Operating Systems (Windows/Linux/Unix). -Knowledge of the key stages of software development lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, and maintenance). -Experience handling & analysing genomic data e.g. Microarray, NGS, qPCR or other complex scientific datasets. -Solid problem solving & logical thinking skills. -Ability to understand complex business rules. -Excellent interpersonal,communication (including written and spoken English). Desirable Criteria: (The following criteria may be applied if a large pool of applicants exist) -PhD in bioinformatics, computer science or a related discipline. -Commercial experience within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company. -Familiarity with genomics and computational biology. -Experience designing & developing FDA or CE-Mark certified software solutions to support clinical assay delivery. -Knowledge of genomic data production platforms e.g. Illumina NGS, Affymetrix GeneChip®, qPCR high throughput platforms. -Previous experience working within a quality system and/or regulatory experience/knowledge (e.g. CFR part11).
